Emile Aoun is a Lebanese lawyer with 30 years of experience. He is a focused professional who has a proven history of making effective decisions and finding innovative solutions to legal problems in civil, commercial and criminal cases.
Aoun’s broad studies in law, administrative and political sciences, and history have provided him with the skills to effectively carry out all the tasks he was assigned in domestic and international law, in Lebanon and Europe.
Emile Aoun earned his Bachelor’s degree in Law from St Joseph University in 1994, Bachelor’s Degree in Administrative and Political Sciences from the same university in 1996, and pursued History in the Lebanese University in 2000.
Ranked in first place in all L.L.M. sections, Aoun completed his L.L.M. Public Law at La Sagesse University in 2000, then his L.L.M. Private Law in 2004 . Aoun later pursued his PhD in 2013 in France at Paris 2 University, Panthéon – Assas, in International Law.
Aoun served as a lecturer at La Sagesse University from 2001 to 2011 and at Antonine University, from 2009 to 2011. Aoun participated as a trainer of French magistrates at The National School for the Judiciary – Paris on International Criminal Procedure in November 2017.
Aoun’s name was mentioned in The New York Times and The Washington Post on June 13, 2012, as a defense lawyer pleading before the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. Emile Aoun was also the first Lebanese Lawyer to be accredited on the Counsel list of the International Criminal Court, ICC, in 2013.

February 2020 – August 2021
Lead Counsel to represent the rights and interests of the Accused in his absence in STL-18-10. This connected case relates to the three attacks against three Lebanese politicians in 2004 and 2005.
February 2012 to August 2020
Lead Counsel to represent the rights and interests of one of the principal accused in the case of Prosecutor v. Ayyash et al., STL-11-01. This case relates to the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in 2005.
